Fife Water Testing FAQs
What is water sampling?
Water sampling is the action of sample collection and transportation. It’s different from water testing—the process of microbiological—and the British Standards Institution sets out different standards for water testing and water sampling.
Why water sampling?
Water sampling should be conducted regularly to ensure safety, improve the quality of potable water, identify changes to your water supply over time and monitor the effectiveness of your existing water treatment system.
How do I test my water?
You can either purchase a water test kit or contact a water analysis company. Be aware that how you take a water sample can affect the result and that water sampling is not the same as water testing. You will need to send your sample to a UKAS accredited laboratory to receive an accurate result.
