Project Overview
We were commissioned to upgrade an outdated intermediary pumping station, addressing low water pressure issues and inconsistent supply affecting three properties. The existing system relied on an old galvanised cold water storage tank and a single booster pump operating on a timer, which frequently resulted in water shortages when the timer was incorrectly set.
Challenges Identified
- Aging Infrastructure – The existing galvanised tank was outdated and inefficient.
- Inconsistent Water Supply – The system relied on a timed booster pump feeding an attic storage tank, leading to pressure drops and occasional water loss.
- Low Pressure Complaints – Residents experienced poor water pressure across all three properties.
- Inefficient Distribution – The additional storage tank in the attic was unnecessary and introduced inefficiencies.
Solution Implemented
- Upgraded Storage & Pumping System
- Replaced the old galvanised tank with a new 3,000L GRP sectional cold water storage tank, installed within the existing pump house.
- Installed a twin DAB Esybox Max pump set, providing redundancy and consistent water pressure.
- Optimised Water Distribution
- Excavated and laid new distribution pipework to allow the new tank and pump to directly feed all three properties, eliminating the need for the attic storage tank.
Outcome
The upgraded system now delivers reliable, high-pressure water supply directly to all three properties, eliminating previous pressure drops and removing the dependency on a timed booster pump. The new twin-pump setup provides built-in redundancy, ensuring consistent water delivery even in the event of pump maintenance or failure.
